Ooooby out of Waiheke
A WAIHEKE Island man has launched a new online food gardening movement called Ooooby – Out of our own back yards. View: www.ooooby.org
Since the site went live 14 weeks ago, Ooooby has more than 650 members, most being in the Auckland area.
Says Pete Russell: “It’s a free social network platform brought on by the recession.
“It’s for people who want to grow and eat local food, it’s talking over the back fence online, for people trading seeds, plants produce, giving each other tips,” says Pete.
Many of the members were a younger audience just starting out in food gardening, he said.
The site is now just hitting 1,000 members! Growing fast! With all ages and nationalities engaged in dialogue around food growing and sharing.
